Virchow, Rudolf, 1990
Introduction by L. J. Rather
Virchow (1821–1902) is considered one of the most outstanding physicians and research scientists of the nineteenth century. These letters report his experiences as a medical student in Berlin and describe the developing religious, political and social crisis in Prussia which led to the 1848 uprisings. They also portray his experience at the 1,500-bed Charite Hospital in Berlin. Additional personal letters have been added to this edition.
